Semefab (Scotland) Ltd. operates two Silicon wafer fabrication foundries in Glenrothes, Scotland supporting a wide range of process technologies. Founded in 1986, Semefab has an impressive track record of process development, induction and fabrication of custom Silicon based MEMS, CMOS and ASIC technologies, both for established and start up companies who rank innovation, cost effectiveness and quality high on their list of priorities. This capable legacy is testimony to the organisation's cost effectiveness and resilience. Semefab is your low risk foundry partner.
The organisation is implementing an ambitious expansion plan having expanded its MEMS fab 2 processing capability and plans to build a 871m2 fab 3 to further expand its capabilities. Semefab is a global foundry, exporting 64% of its manufactured products.
Under the SemeMEMS Initiative, Semefab is the UK primary wafer fab node for Micro and Nanotechnology (MNT) and as such is an enabler for commercialisation of industrial and academia research outcomes. SemeMEMS operates a MEMS development business model offering open-access MEMS development throughout the full technology cycle (feasibility, proof of concept and prototyping) whilst Semefab operates a commercial MEMS foundry model. The Semefab - SemeMEMS value proposition seamlessly transitions a SemeMEMS development project into the volume foundry ensuring optimal internal knowledge transfer between the Semefab process development team and the Semefab process engineering team.
Semefab presently operates volume foundry agreements for pressure sensors, temperature sensors and gas sensors and has more than 14 active MEMS development projects under the SemeMEMS initiative.
Semefab's CMOS fab 1 foundry and MEMS fab 2 foundry operate within an ISO9001 and ISO14001 accredited environment.
